I write literary young adult fiction, short stories, and personal essays.  Roly-Poly Girls is my first completed young adult novel.  It took far too long to write and edit.  And rewrite and edit.  What drives the book - and what kept me going - was sister love.

My short stories have been published in American Short Fiction, Glimmer Train Stories, and American Way, the former American Airlines magazine.  One short story won the Glimmer Train Open Fiction Contest, and another was listed among 100 other distinguished short stories in Best American Short Stories.

I love children, family, nature, walking, reading, European murder mystery movies and shows.  My sense of humor is a wee bit mean.  I collect notebooks, and my favorites have handmade paper and covers.  My favorite pens are Tul.  My goal is to swim in every great lake.
